manufacturer. On the summary page for the server or MM, click the health status notification to
open the manufacturer's user interface.
To select health contributors
1. Click Management, then click Health.

Using the taskbar icon
The Windows taskbar displays an icon you can use to launch Intel Server Manager. The taskbar
icon also indicates the health status of your computer or other computers on the network. Placing
the mouse pointer over the icon displays the health status and number of unacknowledged alerts
received.
The taskbar icon indicates that the computer's health is currently in one of these three states:
Normal
Warning
Critical
The taskbar icon flashes when the system receives a new alert. It continues flashing until you
acknowledge the alert. See
Configuring and using pop-up alerts for more information.
To run Intel Server Manager from the taskbar
1. Right-click or double-click the taskbar icon.
2. Click Manage this Computer.
Selecting performance counters
The Intel Server Manager Performance counters page lets you select performance items that you
want to monitor. You can monitor specific hardware components, such as drives, processors, and
memory, or you can monitor OS components, such as processes or bytes/sec transferred by the
system's Web server. When you select a performance counter you also specify the frequency for
polling the item, as well as specify the performance thresholds and number of violations that are
allowed before an alert is generated.
When a performance counter has been selected you can then
monitor performance on the
Performance page by viewing a graph with real time or historical data.
You can also set alert actions to trigger notification when a performance counter crosses an
upper or lower threshold a predetermined number of times.
To select a performance counter to monitor
1. Click Management, then click Performance counters.
2. Click Select performance counters to monitor.
