MANAGING SYSTEM INVENTORY
Model—The model number of the computer.
Version—The computer system version.
Serial number—A serial number assigned to the motherboard by its manufacturer.
Asset number—The asset tracking number assigned to the computer. This is sometimes
assigned by the computer's manufacturer and stored in the computer's
BIOS. If it is not in
the BIOS, this number can be added by a user with administrative rights.
To view and edit asset information
1. Click System, then click Asset management.
2. Type new information in any edit box.
3. Click Apply.
Note—The asset information fields can only be edited if you are logged in as a member of the
Windows Administrators or Power Users groups.
BIOS
Intel Server Manager displays the following BIOS information for the computer:
Manufacturer—The manufacturer of the BIOS installed on the motherboard.
Date—The date of the BIOS installed on the motherboard.
Version—The version of the BIOS installed on the motherboard.
Serial number—The serial number of the BIOS installed on the motherboard.
You can also use this page to set alert actions for POST (power-on self test) errors that may
occur when a computer boots. You can also view the BIOS event log.
BIOS event log
The log displays a list of events affecting the BIOS, including the date the event occurred and a
description of the event.
To view BIOS information
Click System, then click BIOS.
To set alert actions for POST errors
1. Click Configure alert actions: POST error detection.
2. Click the tab of the status type (OK or Warning) you want to set alerts for.
3. Click the types of alerts you want to send and click Apply.
4. To set general options for an alert type, click Set preferences. This link opens the
Alerts
preferences
page.
